Install Copper Nickel Fuel Lines for Maximum Safety

It’s not easy to install a flare on the end of a brake line, even using precision shaping equipment. The majority of lines used today are made of metals and alloys that are hard to work with to produce complex designs; brake lines made of steel or stainless steel, for instance, need a lot of power to form a flare. You must also take care during the flaring operation of the steel brake line to prevent the brake tube end from breaking or crushing. Copper-nickel alloy is the material of choice for new Copper Nickel Brake Lines tubing. Because of its strength, ductility, and malleability, the alloy is ideal for making brake lines.

First, accurately measure the length of the production line before beginning to flare it. To allow for the flare, add around 1/2 inch on either end. Make use of a cutter wheel-style tubing cutter to accurately cut the new line to the desired length. Once the cut end has been verified to be exactly square to the tubing’s long dimension, all burrs and ridges should be removed from both the inside and outside the cut end using a brake tubing reamer.

Before proceeding, accurately position the tube nuts with their threads pointing outward towards the flare by placing them over the line and matching the fittings on the brake components (calipers, master cylinder, etc.). Using a preferred flaring tool, the flare may be created after the tube nuts are in line. Press the 3/16″ punch on the tool, then replace it with the 45-degree 3/16″ punch and press one more. A double flare will emerge from this Copper Fuel Line!
