Press Release
After 5 weeks of agonizing delay, we are so pleased to start this email update with good news. Reproductive Health and Wellness Center is now open and ready to start IVF and IUI cycles as well as fresh and frozen embryo transfers.
Given the above, the improving COVID numbers, and the fact that this virus is going to be in our lives for a while (probably until next spring at the earliest), we personally believe now is the right time to restart the important work that we do.
There are a number of protocols we have put in place to protect each other, our families, and the community that were in my last email and they are listed again here (these types of changes are going to be the new normal in many aspects of our lives until there is an effective vaccine).
If you decide to proceed with treatments, it is important to note that when it comes to COVID-19 in pregnancy, information is very limited. Although there is no current evidence of maternal-fetal transmission of COVID-19, prior data support that a fever of any kind in pregnancy may pose risks including birth defects, miscarriage, stillbirth, and preterm birth. From prior data, it is also known that pregnant patients are at greater risk of morbidity and mortality from other respiratory infections such as influenza and SARS. Further, medications to treat COVID-19 are not currently tested/approved in pregnancy and might be contraindicated in pregnancy.
