How Effective Is Local Anesthesia in Pediatric Dentistry?

In a study, the aim is to compare the efficacy of appropriate pediatric devices, the combined effect of vibration and distraction, and the injection way technique for pain prevention, to investigate the behavior of children between the ages of 6 and 11 years has been done. The methods used in this study were randomized, crossover, on the mouth of 30 children who required a bilateral alveolar inferior nerve block. Children are divided equally into two groups. The usual method and machine are used in each session separately for all children. These devices were used to measure anxiety by measuring pulse rates before and during local anesthesia. Their behavior was evaluated using the scale of facial movements, legs, body activity, screaming, and endurance.

The results showed that children who received local anesthesia had a lower pulse rate by the same method. The level of pain compared to the traditional local anesthesia has been quite different and lower. This method is much more useful than usual, especially in managing pain, anxiety, and behavior in patients between the ages of 6 and 11 years. This device is more affordable, more comfortable, and also suitable for children.

How to Reduce Children’s Dental Anxiety?

Pain is not the main reason for dental fear. Anxiety and unknown fear of dentistry during dental treatment is a significant factor and has been of concern to dentists for a long time. Therefore, this part aims to evaluate and compare two techniques of patient distraction in dentistry with audio-visual and audio-only. This technique is discussed in the pediatric dentistry discussion. Sixty patients in the age of 4 to 8 who had dental caries were divided into three groups. Each child has four sessions of visits, photography, prevention, and caries restoration visits, as well as tooth extraction. The level of children’s anxiety at each visit was measured: Imaging test, clinical anxiety rate, and heart rate. These values were obtained using the analyzed statistics.

And finally, auto-visual techniques have been more effective than just audio techniques in pediatric dentistry. Toronto dentist faces to the children’s fear of having their first dental appointment. The role of the dentist is to manage the child’s anxiety and worry, first to control, treat the child’s problem, and then to explain to the child appropriate ways to manage their stress. Dentists have a variety of techniques for managing child anxiety, including tell-show-do, relaxation, distraction, modeling, using numb, hypnosis, and practicing on behaviors. But in the meantime, parental behavior is also useful. Success in these techniques has been reported among all adult patients.
